We can fix a gummy smile with surgical or non-surgical methods.
A smile is beautiful because it represents joy, even if there are dental imperfections.
Unfortunately, some individuals avoid smiling due to concerns their gums take up too much room.
At Smile Creative, we’re dedicated to restoring the look and function of your teeth without any judgement. If you think you have a gummy smile that bothers you, contact Smile Creative!
What is a gummy smile?
Technically known as excessive gingival display, you may have a “gummy smile” if more than 3mm of gum can be seen above your upper teeth (instead of the average 2mm).
This can be caused by genetics, anatomy (tooth, gum, lip or jaw issues), poor dental hygiene, altered tooth eruption, or as a side effects of medication.

Cosmetic Dentist FAQs
Common questions Dr Karishma gets regarding cosmetic dentistry
Gum contouring is a cosmetic dental procedure that reshapes the gum line to create a more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing smile. It involves removing excess gum tissue and shaping the remaining tissue to create a more even gum line.
People who have an uneven gum line, excessive or asymmetrical gum tissue, or a "gummy" smile are good candidates for gum contouring. It can also be used to treat gum recession or to prepare teeth for restorative or cosmetic procedures, such as dental crowns or veneers.
Most people do not experience significant pain during or after gum contouring. The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia to numb the gums and minimize discomfort. After the procedure, some swelling and mild discomfort may occur, but this can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers and should subside within a few days.
